Lecture: Kehinde Andrews on The Battle for Black Studies

Andrews' lecture will be part of an education exchange programme bringing together educators from across Europe

On 30 January, Professor Kehinde Andrews – 2020 Evens Education Prize laureate – will give a public lecture titled The Battle for Black Studies: Decolonising knowledge is not just ‘academic’ at the Netherlands Research School of Gender Studies.
Register to attend.

The lecture is part of a wider exchange programme bringing together educators from across Europe, organised by the Evens Foundation and hosted on this occasion by Professor Koen Leurs from Utrecht University, who is also a 2020 Evens Education Prize laureate.

By offering spaces for peers to share successes, as well as obstacles and stumbling blocks they encounter in their work, the Evens Foundation aims to support groups to collectively think about ways forward or strategies to overcome those.

Kehinde Andrews is Professor of Black Studies at Birmingham City University. His latest book The Psychosis of Whiteness will be published in 2023 by Penguin Allen Lane. He has also written The New Age of Empire: How Racism and Colonialism Still Rule the World, Black to Black: Retelling Black Radicalism for the 21st Century and Resisting Racism: Race, Inequality and the Black Supplementary School Movement.
