Catharsis
Catharsis is an artistic creation that brings together French and Polish musicians and dancers. It provides a view of the painful existence of a Polish town from the twentieth century until the present: Oswieçim.
The Catharsis project is situated in the context of a partnership between the Nantes association "Croche-patte" and the Cultural Centre of Oswieçim (OCK). The aim of "Croche-patte" is to stimulate creative and educational exchanges between musicians and dancers.
The first presentation took place on 26 April 2007 in the context of the Nantes university festival. This was followed by a second presentation at the end of October 2007 in the Cultural Centre of Oswieçim in Poland.
The encounter is based on the contemporary history of a town with a dramatic and painful past: Oswieçim, a Polish town, much better known under its name of Auschwitz during the German occupation.
This work addresses everyone who is interested in collective and artistic reflection on European history. Its actors want to show that it is possible to undertake collective projects for historical conciliation on a European scale.
The creation includes written work and poetry. The musical and scenic aspect was enriched with a choreographic concept developed and executed by jazz/contemporary dancers.

Trans:it Moving Culture Through Europe - Art for Social Change

A project by Fondazione Adriano Olivetti in collaboration with:
The Evens Foundation supported the presentation of the Trans:it project, the 28th of February 2004 at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris.
Trans:it is an itinerant project that deals with the most urgent themes of contemporary culture and artistic production in Europe. An observatory / laboratory on the various practices of artistic intervention in the field. The question of public space, of its significance and its definition, is the subject of a reflection that involves the theory of art, of society, and of cultural policy. Through a creative and artistic approach, the artists deal with questions related to the complexity and contrasts of contemporary life: from multicultural integration to urban regeneration, from identity to collective memory, from community to alienation.
Trans:it intends to build a platform of documentation, analysis and discussion between European cultural institutions, both public and private, and artists, interdisciplinary groups and cultural operators involved in projects of social importance. Through detailed analysis of the most significant projects on public space around Europe, the path of research involves both the theoretical dimension and direct investigation in the field, fostering direct exchange between different cultural identities and artistic communities. The project foresees a website, which gathers together all the relevant information, interviews and contributions from people concerned with these themes, and a cycle of documentary films produced in a critical and curatorial perspective.

The anthology of art: art and theory
Internet project of Jochen Gerz, initiated in 2001
This work wants to give a contemporary vision of art, whereby through the internet 156 artists and 156 scientists give their answer to the question: "What is, within the context of contemporary art, your vision of Art in the future?". The contributors react consecutively to the answers that appear on the internet, thus creating a dialogue. After one year all answers are compiled in a book as well as on the internet. This work will be the reflection of the dialogue between art and theory by a hybrid international community.
