Evens Prize for Visual Arts 2011

The Evens Foundation has launched the new edition of its Prize for Visual Arts. The objective is to prospect on current contents and forms of artistic practice that re actualize and put in perspective the question of how art relates to the contemporary world, reflecting on singularity, the real, social involvement, the possibilities and limits of artistic agency, and, more intimately, on how we, through art, create a relation to ourselves, to others, and to the world.

A selection committee composed of the leaders of 10 European art Institutions will propose a list of 20 artists, and an independent jury will select the winner in the end of November 2010. The monetary award for the winner is €15,000.

A publication/critical reader will gather reflections on the current models and possibilities of artistic agency, including texts by influential thinkers, candidate projects, and an interview with the award-winner.
