Street School for Young Journalists

The Evens Foundation aims to support the democratisation of the media landscape while keeping up with the high quality news making standards. Since 2012, we are supporting Street School, in Paris, a free initiation to journalism for young people from various backgrounds. The project is developed by Street Press, a young online media, with support of numerous media partners. No diploma or previous journalistic experience is required, the School is open to all those will prove their strong motivation and potential to join the team. The School’s 4 months programme aims to introduce young people into the essentials of the journalistic practice. It consists of theoretical and practical workshops, as well as master classes by professionals from major newspapers, TV and Radio stations.

The first session of the Street School was a succes : over 400 applications were recieved and 15 most motivated youngsters were selected to follow the programme. Upon the completion of the course, several participants were admitted to the prestigious schools of journalism, others started to work as freelancers to develop further their professional experience.

The second session of the Street School has been launched in March 2013. An online version of the Street School with workshop podcasts and tutorials will allow a larger community of young people to follow this journalistic training.
